Ever since Android came up we have been waiting for a competitor; an
open source OS, and it seems like one has finally emerged. Mozilla have
come up with their Firefox OS, and the most interesting thing is that
they have released a build that you can test on your PC or Mac.

This certainly got everyone excited and iDB
decided to give the Firefox OS a little test. Although a lot of the
features won’t work or a PC or Mac as it requires specific hardware but
it still gives us a hands on feel of the new OS. Starting off with the
home screen the Icons are mostly circular and it gives you the
impression of being something of a mix of the iOS and the Android OS. It
looks very visual, and what we really liked was the home screen that
lets you unlock to the home screen or you can go directly to your camera
or other applications. The interface is quite colorful, it looks fresh
and you have the native Firefox red, yellow, and green icons on the top
left corner. It’s even got the Apples wiggly icon mode where you can re
arrange your icons to suit your needs, overall it does give an
impression of being a Me Too OS but it still too soon say something like
that.
Overall
it looks very promising, but that will be decided later on when a
Firefox phone is launched. For the time being give us your thoughts on
the new Firefox OS and whether or not you are excited to get your hands
on it. You can also read about it more in our
post.
